A wild adventure in the middle of the city

If there is a plan in Barcelona that combines nature, fun and an educational touch, it is undoubtedly a visit to the Barcelona Zoo. Located in the Parc de la Ciutadella, this zoo is a small oasis in the middle of the bustle of the city, ideal to disconnect and marvel at the diversity of the animal kingdom.

Animals you can find:

The zoo is home to a wide variety of species from all continents. The stars of the place include the majestic Rothschild’s giraffes and the imposing lions. In the Aviary, you can admire more than 70 species of birds, while in the Dragon Land area, the protagonists are the incredible Komodo dragons.

For the little ones (or for those of us who still have a curious spirit), the Zoo Farm is a must-see. Here it is possible to interact with goats, ponies and other domestic animals, an educational and entertaining experience.

Curious facts

The Barcelona Zoo opened its doors in 1892 and is famous for having been home to Snowflake, the only known albino gorilla in the world, who lived here from 1966 to 2003. In addition, the zoo participates in conservation programs for endangered species and is constantly working to improve its facilities to offer the animals a more suitable environment.
