Fine Dining and High Cuisine in Barcelona: A Local’s Guide

If there’s one thing I love about Barcelona, besides its beaches and nightlife, it’s the food. And I’m not just talking about tapas and vermouth (which is also), but about those places where gastronomy becomes art. Yes, I am referring to fine dining and avant-garde cuisine, experiences that go far beyond eating well.
Here you not only pay for a delicious dish, but for creativity, innovation and impeccable service. If you want to live a unique gastronomic experience in Barcelona, I leave you a guide to the best restaurants to indulge yourself and discover how far haute cuisine can go in this city.
Disfrutar: Eating Here is a Spectacle

This place is simply another level. It’s run by three former El Bulli chefs (i.e. legends), so you know you’re in for something out of the ordinary. The food here is not only delicious, but plays with textures, crazy presentations and flavor combinations you wouldn’t expect.
One of the most iconic dishes is their foie macaroni with truffle, which literally melts in your mouth. Plus, the tasting menu is one surprise after another, with dishes that look like they came out of a science lab, but taste like glory.
Address: Carrer de Villarroel, 163
Subway: L5 (Hospital Clínic)
Cinc Sentits: Catalan Tradition with a Modern Twist

If you want something more elegant but without all the experimental craziness, Cinc Sentits is an incredible option. Here, chef Jordi Artal works magic with local ingredients and gives them a sophisticated touch without losing their essence.
What I like most is that the menu changes with the seasons, so there is always something new to try. Their “essence of the sea” is brutal: a Mediterranean-inspired dish with freshest seafood and a touch of sea foam (yes, literal).
Address: Carrer d’Entença, 60
Subway: L1 (Rocafort)

ABaC: For a Total Michelin Experience

If you are looking for a starred dinner (literally, because it has three Michelin stars), ABaC is the place. It’s Jordi Cruz’s restaurant (yes, the handsome chef from MasterChef Spain), and here everything is thought out in detail: the food, the ambience and even the tableware.
It is a sophisticated and exclusive place, ideal for a special occasion. Their dishes play with contrasts and modern techniques, but always with intense flavors. My favorite? A lamb dish cooked at low temperature with exotic spices that is pure perfection.
Address: Av. del Tibidabo, 1
How to get there: Tramvia Blau + Funicular del Tibidabo
