in Barcelona:
The best Irish pubs

Authentic Irish vibe without leaving the city

If there’s one thing Barcelona knows how to do well, besides tapas and partying, it’s to embrace the best of other cultures. And when it comes to Irish pubs, we are not far behind. There are plenty of pubs where you can have a good pint of Guinness, listen to live music and feel like you’re in the heart of Dublin without leaving the city.

So here is my selection of the best Irish bars in Barcelona, perfect for a night out with friends, watching soccer or just enjoying the craic (that Irish word that means good vibes and fun).

The George Payne -The king of Irish pubs

la casa batlló

If you’ve ever been to Plaza Urquinaona on a Friday or Saturday night, you’ve surely seen the line of people waiting to get into The George Payne. And no wonder. This is, without a doubt, one of the biggest and liveliest Irish pubs in Barcelona.
They have happy hour, giant screens to watch soccer and rugby matches, and an atmosphere that heats up quickly with live music and DJs in the evenings. They also organize karaoke contests and drinking games events that make the experience even more fun. My personal recommendation is to order for only 30 euros a promo that brings a lot of cocktails and shots.

Address: Plaça d’Urquinaona, 5

The Wild Rover – Rock, and good Guinness

Casa batlló terrace

If rock and soccer are your thing, The Wild Rover is your place. It is a pub with a more traditional touch, but with an energy that is no slouch. It’s just a stone’s throw from La Rambla, which makes it a perfect meeting point for tourists and locals looking for good live music and a good pint of Guinness.

They have two giant screens where they play practically any important game (Premier League, LaLiga, Champions League, rugby… you name it). And if you like live music, almost every night they have bands playing Irish rock and folk classics.

Address: Carrer de Santa Mònica, 2

The Shamrock

Casa Batlló

If you want a more local Irish pub, The Shamrock near Universitat is a great pick. It’s small but cozy, with affordable pints, friendly bartenders, and a laid-back vibe. It’s not the wildest spot, but perfect for starting the night or watching a game without the usual tourist crowds.

Irish pubs: where the Guinness flows, the music plays, and the craic is always on!

Dunne’s Irish Bar – Classic and cozy

    Casa Batlló

This is one of the most authentic Irish pubs in town. Dunne’s has that classic pub charm, with dark wood, rugby flags and a food menu that includes fish & chips, Irish stew and shepherd’s pie.

It is a more relaxed place, ideal if you want to have a quiet Guinness, watch a game without too much noise or enjoy dinner with friends. Of course, on weekends it also gets quite crowded and there is a great atmosphere.

    Address: Via Laietana, 19

Flaherty’s Irish Pub – Perfect for brunch

    Casa Batlló

If you’re looking for a place to start your day with a proper Irish breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage, beans, tomato, mushrooms and toast), Flaherty’s is the answer. This pub is known for its food as much as its beers.

At night, the atmosphere changes and becomes more party-like, with lots of international students, expats and tourists. They also have beer pong tournaments and quiz nights if you’re in the mood for something different.

    Address: Plaza Joaquim Xirau

As you can see, there are options for all tastes: from parties at The George Payne, to quiet nights at The Shamrock or live music at The Wild Rover. So if you like the atmosphere of Irish pubs, you already have a list of places that do not fail in Barcelona.
