Enjoy the city as a local
If there is a perfect time to enjoy Barcelona, it is spring. The cold leaves, the days get longer and the city is full of events, parties and outdoor plans. If you come between March and June, get ready to live Barcelona like a real local. Here I leave you the best events sorted by month, with addresses, tips and how to get there.
APRIL: Books, roses and Andalusian Fair
Sant Jordi (April 23) – The most beautiful day of the year.
If there is a day when Barcelona shines with its own light, it is Sant Jordi. On April 23, the streets are filled with book and rose stalls, and the city turns into a huge open-air literary market. Las Ramblas, Passeig de Gràcia and Plaça de Catalunya are the best places to experience the atmosphere. It’s the Catalan version of Valentine’s Day, but here love is celebrated with culture.
- Where: Las Ramblas, Passeig de Gràcia, Plaça Catalunya
- How to get there: Metro L1 (red) and L3 (green) – Catalunya

Catalonia April Fair (end of April – beginning of May)
You don’t have to travel to Seville to enjoy the Feria de Abril. In the Parc del Fòrum, every spring they set up booths with flamenco, tapas and rebujito. The atmosphere is crazy, and yes, even if you don’t know how to dance sevillanas, you’ll have a great time. Tip: go hungry, because the tapas are irresistible.
- Where: Parc del Fòrum
- How to get there: Metro L4 (yellow) – El Maresme/Fòrum

MAY: Music, cinema and more food
Primavera Sound (late May – early June).
If you love music, this is THE festival. Primavera Sound brings together artists from all over the world, with amazing concerts in a brutal atmosphere. It is held in the Parc del Fòrum, right next to the sea. Tickets are not cheap, but if you like live music, it’s worth every euro.
