The Zona Rosa: Beyond the Famous Clubs
Barcelona is a vibrant city that never sleeps, offering nightlife entertainment options for all tastes. Although among the best known are clubs like Opium, Razzmatazz and Pacha, there are other places with charm and character that are worth exploring.
In Latin American countries it is called “Zona Rosa” to an area full of fun places like bars, nightclubs, bars, etc, so I will tell you which can be the Zona Rosa of Barcelona, especialmentel to find in the area of Aribau, Tuset and surrounding streets, where you will find elegant bars, sophisticated cocktail bars and locals with a more exclusive atmosphere.
The Zona Alta: Luxury and Good Taste
Barcelona’s Zona Alta, which includes neighborhoods such as Sant Gervasi and the upper part of Eixample, is a favorite destination for those looking for a more refined nightlife experience. In this area, bars and clubs tend to attract an adult audience, with locales offering a more relaxed and select atmosphere compared to the more touristy areas.
Bars and Cocktail Bars in Aribau and Tuset
- Bobby’s Free
In an article I already commented that it is worth going to this place, although it is closer to the center, Bobby’s Free deserves another mention for its unique concept. It is a speakeasy hidden behind what looks like a barbershop. Once inside, the atmosphere is sophisticated, with a creative cocktail menu and music that varies between jazz and more modern rhythms. - Slow Barcelona
Located on Carrer París, near Aribau, this bar is ideal for those looking for a more intimate and elegant experience. Slow combines signature cocktails with live music and a sophisticated atmosphere, perfect to start the night. - Benzina
On Pasaje de Pere Calders, Benzina offers a very chill modern atmosphere with a selection of cocktails and Italian dishes. Its décor has dimmed lights and a relaxed atmosphere making it an excellent choice for a drink before going out dancing. - Elephant Club
Although it is not a very big discotheque, Elephant Club offers an exclusive atmosphere with varied music and a pleasant terrace. It is an option for those who prefer a more private atmosphere.

Personally, from time to time I prefer the Zona Rosa in Barcelona to go out: good experience, elegant music and perfect cocktails, away from the crowds.
Looking for more fun and dancing?
While Barcelona’s nightlife is associated with the big clubs I mentioned above, there are clubs that offer more intimate options to enjoy music without the hustle and hype of the more massive clubs.
- Bling Bling
This is a classic of the Zona Alta, from my point of view one of the best known, Bling Bling is an elegant club on Tuset street. Here, the clientele tends to be of a more exclusive profile, with commercial music and a well-kept atmosphere. They have events for ages +18, +21, etc. - Soho
In Aribau street, Soho is a place that mixes music from the 80’s, 90’s and nowadays, and generally has an audience over 25 years old. It is an excellent alternative to the big discos if you are looking for something more relaxed but with good music. - Luz de Gas
Located on Muntaner street, Luz de Gas is a gem of Barcelona’s nightlife. It is very cool because it is located in a former theater, this club is famous for its sophisticated atmosphere and for attracting a more adult audience that enjoys good live music and DJ sessions.
And as a mini tip the club does not enforce a specific dress code; however, they recommend that you dress somewhere between smart and casual.
Visiting Barcelona’s upper area is a truly unique experience worth living. Although the prices may be higher and the style of dress more sophisticated, the elegant atmosphere, the breathtaking views and the exclusive gastronomic offer make the visit unforgettable.
